Coming from various background of engineering into petroleum world posed a lot of challenges to some students who had little or no background in petroleum engineering and even for those who studied petroleum as first degree.

The high and demanding expectations of the petroleum industry from its new employees put lots of pressure on young aspiring engineers just going to the industry.

Through affiliation of the institute to some of the world acclaimed Petroleum Service Companies in Nigeria, the institute has been able to acquire some high tech software used in the industry today for its training programme. The use of this software gives students the ability to solve complex problems and also keep them up to date with the industry there by increasing thier technical base, marketability and ability to fit in easily into the industry.

IPS impacts a broad, long-sighted and comprehensive training, which did not restrict students knowledge to the Niger delta region of Nigeria but enough knowledge to be able to cope with the peculiarities of the various petroleum regions of the world.
