In his paper titled: "Environmental Pollution in the Niger Delta: Causes and Consequences" the professor stated that oil and gas pollution are the major environmental challeges in the Niger Delta. For instance, a total of 6,141 incidents resulted in the spill of approximately 3,019,465.90 barrels of oil into the environment between 1976 and 2000. |

Professor Ajienka, who is also the occupant of the Emmanuel Egbogah Chair for petroleum Engineering at the University, was speaking at the 2006 Conference and Exhibition of the National Registry of Environmental Practitioners, which held in Nashville, Tennessee last October, in the United States. |

Do you think the training at IPS prepared you for your current job? Please explain
Of course it did. IPS provided me with a broad-based training in Petroleum Engineering. Consequently, while making analyses and interpretations at work, I would be able to see things from geological, petrophysical, reservoi, completions or production engineering points of view. I have more confidence when dealing with clients than I would have had if I did not have the training at IPS. The Softskills Module of IPS has been useful in preparing me for writing reports, and making technical and client presentations. |
