Academic/Research Centres

Operating under the aegis of Centre for Oil and Gas Technology, IPS is sponsored by TOTAL E&P Nigeria Limited and NNPC Joint Venture. The Strategic Plan designed at the inception of the Institute has created room for expansion. Such expansionist propensities have paved the way for the establishment of eight new Centres.

Established in 2003, Institute of Petroleum Studies (IPS) is a postgraduate institution of international standard which evolved from the collaboration between the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria and IFP School, France. The international stature of IFP School is attested to by age-long collaboration and partnership with such renowned institutions of higher learning as the Imperial College of Science and Technology, London (UK) and Colorado School of Mines, USA.

In a parallel vein, the University of Port Harcourt is in collaboration with topflight Universities in South Africa, United States of America and the United Kingdom. This strategic trend of global collaborative substructure has resulted in the amalgam of different traditions with the application of diverse technology programmes in IPS.
