The centre for Oil and Gas Technology comprises two programmes; the MSc in Petroleum Engineering and Project Development and Post Graduate Diploma in Petroleum Technology Programmes. Each Programme runs for a 12 month period which commences in November every year. The MSc Degree is jointly awarded by IFP School France, and IPS Uniport. Teaching responsibility is shared among IFP School, France (40%) University of Port Harcourt (40%) and the industry (20%). Lectures are organized in modules delivered weekly and examinations are held at the end of every week. Also, results are published promptly. Students evaluate lecturers and the ability to continue teaching or not are determined by students’ evaluation of the lecturers. The period of the programme is interspersed with field trips. Students are exposed to training for professional certifications in different areas. At the end of each academic year, deserving lecturers and students receive prizes for their outstanding performances. |
